In the folds of naphthalene

নানীর ট্রাঙ্ক খুললে যে গন্ধ — সেটাই আমাদের প্রথম সংগ্রহ।

What a grandmother’s trunk keeps, and what it gives back when it opens.

Heirloom Bengali textiles — jamdani and nakshi kantha — folded in a brass-bound trunk

There is a scent that lives in the folds of an old jamdani — naphthalene, sandalwood, and something older than either. It is the smell of a trunk opened only for weddings and Eid, where the good cloth waits all year.

That cloth is no small thing. Dhaka muslin was once the finest in the world — woven so fine the British called it woven air — and jamdani is its living heir. Our first collection is cut to that memory: cloth that has been kept, not bought; worn, not displayed.
